Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Asked by SorchaCarville. Answered on 16th January 2014

Full question

I fell in love with my local coffee shop's salted caramel hot chocolate, but now they make it any more because it's not the right season. I was wondering how to make the same thing at home. Is it possible to use Nigella's salted Caramel Sauce in hot chocolate, or would I be better off buying some syrup? Thanks.

Our answer

Nigella's Salted Caramel Sauce is easy to make and has been very popular as it can be used in many ways. It can certainly be used to make a salted caramel hot chocolate and there is a recipe for this on the Nigella website. We would suggest using 3 tablespoons of the sauce per 250ml/1 cup milk (this should be a large mugful).

You can also use your favourite hot chocolate recipe and just warm the Salted Caramel Sauce with the milk. You can also add some whipped cream on the top of the hot chcolate and drizzle a little extra sauce over the cream. If the sauce has been refrigerated then you may find it helpful to bring the sauce to room temperature before using it.
