Linzer Taller or Spitzbuben as they call them in Germany are my favourite Xmas cookies. The name Spitzbube originates from the 19th century and was a coloquial name for a spy. Because of the hole on the top half of the cookie through which you can 'spy' on your jam the cokkie got its name.
