Not being a beer drinker, this was the first time I had ever made anything with Guinness, but was willing to give it a try, and it was a relatively simple process. My only real difficulty was the saucepan I used to make the cake had pretty much reached its capacity as I was adding the flour mixture, hence needing to whisk it in very, very carefully. My dining companion that evening said that this one one of the best things he has ever eaten, so I will take that as a vote of confidence.
