My first attempt at the cake to celebrate my Wedding anniversary on March 15th and for St Patrick’s day. I followed the ingredients to the letter ( always do first time!). Silly me I misread the tin size and used a 20cm tin instead of 23cm, and watched in horror as a volcanic eruption occurred in my oven! All was not lost, my husband and son cleaned the oven for me by devouring the spills. The cake cooled and I frosted the top. Oh my days just the most divine rich stoutly cake. I will be making this cake again for sure.
