Flapjacks
A community recipe by NickkiNot tested or verified by Nigella.com
Introduction
I have been making these for years, it's a tried and tested recipe given to me by my ex-boyfriends mother! I think the recipe came from the back of a porridge oats box! I've tried many flapjack recipes, but these are my favourite.

Baking these flapjacks at 150C and for a longer baking time gives you just the right amount of chewiness! These flapjacks are also really good with a few raisins or sultanas added with the oats!

Great base recipe - perfect for adding additional flavours, fruit, nuts. I added 2tsp ground ginger to mine, delicious!
Made this recipe a bunch of times. Making some for Chritmas snacks. They are so tasty and moist, family favorite.
These flapjacks are just simply lovely. I sometimes add a twist with a hadful of sultanas and flaked almonds if I use the variation add a dessertspoon of rapeseed or light olive oil - they stay nice and chewy bit softer result.
Brilliant recipe. I have tried lots of different recipes for Flapjacks. This one is the best and also the easiest!
Made 2 batches today, absolutely disastrous !!!!! Sadly completely fell apart both times, fabulous taste though. I guess I will have to mix chocolate with it and have crunchy flapjack lumps :)
How long do they keep?
Just perfect. I have substituted butterscotch syrup for the golden syrup which works too and gives a slightly different flavour which the family love.
These are amazing!
What is it that they say about the simple things in life being the best? In this case it's definitely true. :) Wonderfully simple and uncomplicated recipe... and so tasty and wholesome. Real comfort food for me.
