Gingerbread Syrup

Combine the ingredients in a saucepan - boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for approx. 15 mins. Cover the saucepan and leave to cool.
Introduction
Used for mixing drinks (champagne or white wine) or can be drizzled over freshly baked Gingerbread or vanilla ice cream.

- 2 cups water
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 2½ teaspoons ground ginger (or fresh ginger)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Makes 7 drinks. You could add some fresh ginger root and use less ground ginger.

The above measurements are American: so for those who are from the UK who don't use cups apart from porcelain for coffee or tea; here are the UK measures: 475 mls of water 240 grams of granulated sugar 15 grams ground ginger 5 grams ground cinnamon 5 mls vanilla extract. Just to add american teaspoons are slightly more than UK measurements, roughly 5 grams each teaspoon (US), but then you might like the extra ginger etc...
