Poinsettia

Introduction

This is probably the most serviceable, all-round cocktail-party drink: eminently refreshing; satisfyingly quaffable. It started off as a Christmas cocktail, a juicily seasonal Buck’s Fizz (a drink I normally find too acidically challenging at best and downright depressing at worst), but I now make it all the year round, whenever I have something to celebrate. This prettily pink — rather than authentically red — Poinsettia can be knocked back without a moment’s thought. Whether this is entirely a good thing is another matter...

  • Delicious and festive cocktail! I used unsweetened cranberry juice (as it was on hand) which made it very refreshing.

  • Lovely , light refreshing cocktail perfect for any occasion but particularly for Christmas morning instead of sherry or mulled wine.

  • Christmas is always a sunny day here in Australia and this Prosecco based drink was both refreshing and seasonal (in the traditional sense!)
