Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Beat till smooth. Add dry ingredients. Leave in fridge for at least 30 mins. If you can't bake them all at the same time, place the mixture back on the fridge while waiting. Allowing the dough to be warm makes them spread too much and they become crumbly and hard to remove from a tray. Roll into balls. Bake for no longer than 14 minutes on gas mark 2.
Introduction
You can't eat just one of these, and a glass of milk is needed.

Serves: 4-6
- 4 ounces butter
- 4 ounces granulated sugar
- 2 ounces brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla essence
- 6 ounces all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- mini rolos (optional)
- chocolate chunks (optional)
- cinnamon (optional)
- unsweetened cocoa (optional)
