Our answer

Nigella's Chocolate Guinness Cake (from FEAST) is a rich and damp cake that is made with Guinness. Guinness is a type of beer known as a stout. Stouts are darker in colour than most beers as they contain roasted barley. If you can't find Guinness then you could see if you can find another type of stout beer, but try to avoid milk stouts (or sweet stouts) as they are sweetened.

If you can't find a stout then we would suggest trying Nigella's Chocolate Gingerbread instead. It is similar to the Chocolate Guinness Cake but it is made with milk instead. It includes cloves, cinnamon and ginger but you could replace these 3 spices with 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
