Our answer

Nigella's Butterscotch Pots (from AT MY TABLE) are made by mixing a home made caramel sauce into a custard base. As it cools the mixture sets slightly, giving a butterscotch flavoured crème. In the US this would be known as butterscotch pudding.

We would not particularly like to change this recipe as adding chocolate affects the way the mixture sets and it could lose its silky texture. Instead we would suggest trying Nigella's Chocolate Pudding recipe as this is a dark chocolate version that has been adapted so that the pudding sets but is still soft and creamy, with an intense chocolate flavour.
