Full question
Hi, my granddaughter absolutely loves Nigella's Chocolate Chip cookies from “Kitchen”. She has asked for a giant cookie instead of a cake for her birthday. Any tips on cooking times would be appreciated.
Our answer
Nigella's Chocolate Chip Cookies (from KITCHEN) are chunky cookies that are crisp on the outside but soft and fudgy in the centre. The problem with converting this particular recipe to a giant cookie is that the giant cookies tend to be the type that spread and become thinner and slightly crisper during baking and this is not really that type of cookie and it could start to break up under its own weight. You could certainly try making the dough into a 20-25cm(8-10-inch) circle and baking for 20 minutes, then check every 2-3 minutes, but we are not sure if it will work that well.
Instead, we would suggest trying Nigella's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pots. If you scroll down to the "Additional Information" at the very end of the recipe, you will see that it is possible to bake this cookie dough in a 20cm (8-inch) pie dish and this may be a better alternative.
