How would I need to adapt the Chicken In A Pot recipe if I use chicken thighs instead of the whole chicken?

Our answer

Nigella's Chicken In A Pot With Lemon And Orzo (from COOK, EAT, REPEAT) is a one-pot dish that is cozy and comforting. The chicken is braised in the oven and orzo is added towards the end, where it soaks up the stock created by the chicken.

We suspect that it is possible to use chicken thighs, provided you have a pot that is large enough to hold them all in a single layer. You will probably neeed 6 large or 8 smaller thighs. The thighs will not need as long to cook, and we estimate that the initial cooking time for the chicken will be about 45 minutes. You would then need to remove the thighs, stir in the orzo, return the thighs to the pot and cook for another 15 minutes, then rest and shred the chicken as in the recipe. You will probably need to use the same amount of water as for a whole chicken. However, please note that as we have not tried the recipe with chicken thighs ourselves, we are unable to guarantee the results.
