Can the Moonblush Tomatioes be cooked in an Air Fryer ? My air fryer temperature goes to 200c only, after cooking ends I can keep items warm at 80c for 30minutes, then my air fryer turns off.
Our answer
Nigella's Moonblush Tomatoes (from [NIGELLA EXPRESS}(/books/nigella-express)) are so named as the tomatoes are put into a hot oven, the oven is turned off and the tomatoes are left to cook overnight in the residual heat. The tomatoes are still soft but their flavour is sweeter and more intense, so it is a good way to transform any disappointing supermarket specimens.
We are not sure that this recipe can really be adapted to air fryers as an air fryer cooks by using a very strong fan to circulate hot air around the food. Air fryers heat up and cool down much more quickly than regular ovens. You could slow roast the tomatoes in an air fryer, at around 120c for 30 to 45 minutes (depending on the size of the tomatoes), but these will be slightly different to the Moonblush tomatoes and as they require much more attention from the cook, we would prefer to stick with the original recipe.
