Christmas Dinnerware Collection
Asked by potato. Answered on 4th December 2011
Full question
It's not really a cooking question but Nigella's Christmas book has lovely white dinnerware with red reindeer prancing about. I can't find it anywhere, and indeed probably won't, but if it would be possible to get any information on who made the plates or where she got them, perhaps they have other minimalistic jolly patterns for my own kitchen at Christmas.
Our answer
The china featured in Nigella's book Christmas is her own collection of 1950's Crown Devon Stockholm Reindeer china which she has collected over many years. As it is a vintage item it isn't currently available through retailers. However if you look around there are often pieces for sale at this time of year. Good sources include eBay, vintage and junk shops and car boot sales. You may find a dealer who has a full set but this is likely to be expensive and far less fun than building up a collection over time.
The white mugs with red lettering that spell out "Merry Christmas" are much easier to find and can be bought from Heal's, the link is below.
