Coffee Ice Cream Containers

Asked by Stumped. Answered on 23rd May 2014

Full question

I'd like to know where to get hold of the tubs that Nigella used for freezing the No-Churn Coffee Ice Cream in a recent Nigellisima repeat. I've long been looking for the old fashioned tall waxed cartons that used to be available and these look to be a similar sort of thing. Thanks!

Our answer

Nigella decants her One-Step No-Churn Coffee Ice Cream (from Nigellissima and on the Nigella website) into paper containers before freezing it. The containers are most commonly called "paper soup cups". The containers come in various sizes but the ones used by Nigella have a capacity of 500ml/16 ounces.

The containers are most easily found on catering websites on the internet and we have also seen similar containers being sold on eBay. Although the containers are not that expensive, they tend to be sold in bulk. You may want to ask around a few friends to see if anyone else is interested so that you can split an order between a few people. Also when you order you may need to check if the lids are included. Some sites sell the cups and lids separately.
