Crepes in Crepes Suzette

Full question
I'm keen to have a go at Nigella's Crepe Suzette recipe but I have a large family and it would take a long time to make enough crepes for all of them. You used ready made crepes for this recipe so could you tell me where I can buy them - all I can find are pancakes! Thank you, Brenda
Our answer
Nigella's recipe for Crepes Suzette (from Nigella Express and on the Nigella webste) uses store-bought crepes for speed. Crepe is simply the French term for a thin pancake and it is likely that the pancakes you are looking at are the correct ones to use if they are the thin type (not the thick Scotch or American-style pancakes)
If you live in the UK, or in many parts of Europe, then you should be able to find the crepes/pancakes in the chilled section of most supermarkets, usually with the chiilled desserts. Sometimes you get a choice of sweet or unsweetened pancakes and sweet would be preferable, though unsweetened ones should be fine as long as they are plain and don't have any added ingredients such as herbs or cheese.
Ready-to-use crepes can be a little more difficult to find in US grocery stores but some gourmet markets may carry them in the chilled section, or occasionally in the frozen section. If you can't buy the crepes then you can make crepes to use and these can be made up to 2 days ahead. Stack the crepes on a plate as you make them, preferably with a small piece of baking parchment (parchment paper) in between each crepe, and then cover the plate with clingfilm (plastic wrap) and referigerate until needed.
