Heart-Shaped Paper Cupcake Cases for Wedding
Asked by nakedcake. Answered on 27th July 2011
Full question
I am making cupcakes for my sisters wedding. I would like to make them heart-shaped, but cannot find heart-shaped paper cases. The only cases available are sillicone . Any suggestions?
Our answer
We have not seen any heart-shaped paper cupcake cases, only silicone ones (individual and pan), as you mention. However, regular paper cupcake cases (liners) will tend to take up the shape of the pan they are baked in so it may be worth trying fitting regular cupcake cases into the heart moulds and baking a batch of cupcakes in these - the cakes and papers should come out in a heart shape, though there may be some ruching of the paper case.
Alternatively you could consider using round cupcake cases which have an appropriate decoration, such as hearts, on them. Another option is to use cupcake wrappers. These are placed around the cupcake after baking and cooling and are becoming increasingly popular for fancy cupcakes. You can buy wrappers with bright patterns or very delicate laser-cut versions. The wrappers are more expensive than normal cupcake cases but will make cakes look spectacular for a wedding. Wrappers are readily available via the internet and we have included a couple of samples below as illustration.
