Full question
What could I substitute the alcohol with for the Italian Christmas Pudding Cake?
Our answer
Nigella's Italian Christmas Pudding Cake (from NIGELLISSIMA) is a tiramisu influenced cake made from sliced pannetone layered with a mascarpone cream that has been studded with pistachios, chopped marrons glacés (candied chestnuts) and chocolate chips. It is a great dessert for using up any left over pannetone from the Christmas period.
The panettone layers are drizzled with some Tuaca, which is a liqueur flavoured with vanilla and citrus. Fresh orange or clementine juice would be the best non-alcoholic alternative for the Tuaca. Marsala is used in the mascarpone filling and we would suggest replacing this with 125ml (1/2 cup) full-fat (whole) or semi-skimmed (reduced fat) milk plus a teaspoonful of vanilla extract.
