Is There An Alternative To Clementines For The Christmas Chutney?

Asked by Heledlil. Answered on 19th December 2021

Full question

I am unable to get a clementine or a satsuma in Australia in December. Any suggestions as to a viable alternative for the Christmas Chutney?

Our answer

Nigella's Christmas Chutney (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) uses cranberries, dates and clementines (or satsumas) to make a seasonal condiment that is perfect with cold turkey or with ham or cheese.

If you can't find clementines then oranges would be the best alternative. As clementines are quite small, you should be able to use one large orange instead of the two clementines. Just zest and juice the orange and then scoop out the pulp and add it to the pot with the other ingredients.
