Sauce For Easy Sticky Toffee Pudding

Full question
I don't understand. In the Easy Sticky Toffee Pudding you pour the sugar, butter and water over the uncooked cake?
Our answer
Nigella's Easy Sticky Toffee Pudding (from NIGELLA BITES) is a type of pudding known as a "self-saucing sponge". With these puddings the liquid on top magically becomes a thick sauce on the bottom as the sponge bakes and rises up. So for the Easy Sticky Toffee Pudding you do indeed sprinkle over the extra sugar, dot over the extra butter and pour over boiling water before baking.
We would however note that this pudding is best on the day that it is made and soon after baking. As the sponge cools it absorbs the sauce. Leftovers are still delicious and if you wanted to add some extra sauce to leftovers then we would suggest trying Nigella's Salted Caramel Sauce.
