Our answer

Nigella's Quadruple Chocolate Loaf Cake (from FEAST) is a rich, sticky cake. The loaf pan is lined to make sure that the cake releases easily and can be turned out of the loaf pan cleanly. The original recipe used a heat-resistant clingfilm (plastic wrap).

The recipe was published several years ago and since publication the composition of clingfilms has changed, so we not longer recommend this method of lining the pan. The website recipe and more recent versions of the book have been updated to reflect this. We would suggest instead lining the base and sides of the loaf pan with foil that has been greased with extra butter. Alternatively, you could use a paper loaf pan liner, if you have one, as these are convenient and particularly helpful if you are transporting the cake anywhere. You can also use baking parchment (parchment paper) to line the base and sides of the pan.
