Since my family is Buddhist, an Easter-themed cake would not be entirely practical for us. In the spirit of finding any and every excuse to bake and share this wonderful cake, I baked it for my grandmother's 70th birthday. Kept the celebration and sharing theme by replacing the mini chocolate eggs with shards of white chocolate (achieved with my trusted vegetable peeler). (Left) Cake. (Center) Cake during the birthday party, with a basket of steamed "Longevity" peach-shaped buns behind-- the traditional Chinese equivalent of the birthday cake. (Right) Grandma Yung blowing out the candles. She loved the cake!
