I think the power of this cake lies in its simplicity. That is why I only made two small changes to the original recipe; I added some vanilla to the whipped cream and I used chopped almonds instead of flaked almonds to add an extra crunch to the cake. I didn’t add stronger/heavier flavors, like chocolate for example, to keep the cake light and to let the strawberries steal the show. And they really did! I baked this cake for my brother to celebrate his graduation from high school. He loves strawberries and he (figuratively) devoured this cake. Let’s say the cake also passed its exam ;)
