The cake in it's simplistic glory is sublime - it doesn't need any tweaking or additions. I make this every year in recognition of my daughters' and husband's heritage, my mother-in-law was Irish and was a truly lovely woman. Chocolate Guinness Cake for St Patrick's Day. And for Celia.
