This is one of my favorite cakes to make. Mixing the beer, butter, and sugar over the stove is so lovely and sensuous. I didn't want to tweak the recipe, the cake is perfect in its richness and simplicity. I appreciate how the cake was enjoyed even by those who claim not to like 'rich' desserts. The cake is irresistible.
