I grew up in a Protestant family and didn't discover the joys of Hot Cross buns until marrying into a Catholic family. It has become a Good Friday tradition to bake a double recipe each year. Tradition states that eating Hot Cross buns baked in Good Friday provide a blessing of good health for the year.
