For this competition I decided to bake Nigella's cake to the exact recipe, however I chose to decorate it in a different way that allowed me to express my creativity and learn some new baking skills. Instead of decorating the top of the cake with only mini eggs, I created a nest out of vermicelli noodles and chocolate. Baking to me is an escape from reality, and has also become a very effective coping mechanism as I deal with anxiety from past trauma. Nigella has also experienced a difficult past, so she especially inspires me to be free and to find joy and love through cooking. Even if I do not win this competition, I want Nigella to know that she is my inspiration, and that watching her cook on tv brings me so much joy. Thank you Nigella!
