When I think of Easter I picture cool sunny days and pastel colours. I picture sweet-smelling flowers and copious amounts of chocolate. I aimed to transfer this feeling and picture of Easter into my baking and presentation. Baking the cake was therapeutic, I enjoyed combining the egg yolk mixture with the dark melted chocolate and watching the contrasting colours swirl together and eventually combine into one. When presenting the cake, I wanted to incorporate those colours and feelings that come to mind when I think about Easter. I selected the white background to draw out the pastel colours of the speckled eggs and rich brown colour of the cake. I sprinkled Easter daisies around the centrepiece to complete that Easter image in my mind.
