There is a tradition in Serbia to welcome guests serving them with a teaspoon of fruit delight jam (called "слатко" in Serbian) and a glass of cold water, while coffee or tea are being prepared. "Слатко" is a thin fruit preserve most commonly made from quince, strawberries, plums and cherries. Special delight is rose petal preserve. For our 5 o'clock tea we tried to mix traditions from two cultures by serving English scones with Serbian sweet rose delight.
