I thought it would be a lovely idea to turn the scones into a dessert. It's late autumn in Johannesburg with a cold snap and some warmth is needed. So, I made a brandy cream to go with the scones and served it with green fig preserve. I found freedom in reading during this lockdown period and took the copy of Out of Africa, inherited from my grandmother, off the shelf and immersed myself in it. Perfect with a brandy nightcap after dessert. (Out of Africa, Century Publishing, London, 1986)
