“…the seed-cakes were gone, and the dwarfes were starting on a round of buttered scones.” -The Hobbit, J.R.R Tolkien This recipe was perfect for a literary bake I made for our Rushcliffe School book group, which library staff are running during Lock-down. Our half term challenge to the students was to bake or make some food connected to literature. I included blackberry jam, cream and blackberries because as Bilbo leaves Rivendell he recalls summer back in the Shire, when the Shirelings will be busy blackberrying. Next week we hope to have fun sharing our pictures online and guessing which bake belongs to which book. The scones were delicious I wish they could all taste them in person but I will share the recipe. It would be great if this could win as an inspiration to the group to keep reading and keep baking!
