I felt this recipe really allowed the natural beauty and autumnal personality of the blackberries to shine through, paired with the rustic homely qualities of the base, it certainly warmed the soul. Once baked, I just wanted to add a little bronzing to the berry peaks and creme fraiche valleys by dusting around a final frosting of sugar, and toasting it to a golden caramelised state with the blow torch adding an ever so slight crème brûlée crack to each mouthful. Simply wonderful.
