arg130384's Entry

Whilst finding a use for spoilt milk may have inspired the original recipe, I seldom find myself with this distinct dairy dilemma. Living, as I do, in a household of no less than 4 burly gents - all of whom hold a position on lactose that is not merely tolerant but unequivocally indulgent - had I entertained such a conceit, my entry for February’s Cookalong would have been the sooner outcome. So, this loaf is of the sour cream enriched variety but otherwise follows the original ‘easy-going’ recipe. My use of inverted commas here is an innocent quotation and certainly no attempt to disassociate myself from the notion that this bake is anything other than care-free. I’ll sheepishly confess that the thought of 3 rounds of kneading did initially seem laborious to me but in practice this is nothing Herculean but rather a tension-meltingly methodical process of curative repetition. Even had the process been a labour though, it must be said that it was one of love and that the resulting luscious loaf was both soon and satisfyingly lost.
