I love baking with beer, so this recipe is especially exciting to me! For maximum "beeriness" I opted to use Guinness Extra Stout, and I added a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter to bump up the chocolate flavor. A teaspoon of Irish cream liqueur for the frosting seemed appropriate, and gave the frosting the same mouth watering color as Guinness head. As a self-proclaimed pistachio evangelist, I couldn't resist adding some for a hint of green and a touch of salt.
