I knew I had to make this cake as soon as I saw the recipe. I intended to make it for its own sake, an activity for a rainy Sunday afternoon. I followed the recipe to the letter, and it did not disappoint. What a reward for fairly minimal effort, and what simple beauty. I couldn't not take a photo!
