My mother's 87th birthday fell on Easter this year, so the cake served both as an Easter dessert and the perfect birthday treat for a special octogenarian chocoholic! Specially placed on this Aynsley cake stand gifted to my husband and I, from his English grandmother, over 30 years ago! Followed the recipe to the tee with the exception of an added 1/2 tsp of kosher salt to the batter. I was doubtful the topping would be sweet enough without any added sugar, but alas, Nigella never steers wrong!
