
I didn't have the proper tart tin, so couldn't obtain the same pretty frame of the cake, but I stayed loyal to Nigella's philosophy of no fuss (literally). I admit, I am not a devout of lemon curd, so opted only for lemon zest to echo the summery freshness in this dessert. The tart felt really like a heartfelt goodbye to the summer - I made it on Sunday and here in Brussels it rained profusely. So, don't be fooled by the sunny background - I tool the cake outside when the sky cleared up briefly in between pouring sessions. I feel that this captures the spirit of summer, and life in general - grab and enjoy the moments when you can (and certainly the same can be said about seasonal summer fruit!)
