I am not a fan of chocolate cake, I think it is stodgy, too rich, boring and a cop out but there is something about this chocolate yule log that works so much better than normal. To cut through the richness I added some blackberry jam as I was making the chocolate buttercream which added a subtle sweet top note. To decorate I used the basic icing sugar & cornflour mixture/niege as well as some artful ceramics made by my favourite Melbourne Ceramic Artist Oh Hey Grace.
