My January in the Antipodes

Posted by Nigella on the 4th February 2016

I have just had the best start of the year I could imagine: a glorious, blue-skied month in Australia and New Zealand. While I am about as far from a sun-worshipper as it’s possible to be, there is something about being flooded with all that light that feels like such a treat. I was there to do some filming for Masterchef Australia, followed by a fast-paced book tour, and both filled me with so much pleasure, that I now begin my 2016 back home in fine fettle — despite the 34 hours of travel to get me back here. Much as I loved there (and am already trying to think of when I can go back) there is nothing quite like being back at home. But I’m still relishing the memories — of the places, the people, the food, all of which were inspiring. I won’t bore you with endless photos from my travels (though anyway I posted freely on Facebook, instagram and Twitter while I was away) but I couldn’t resist sharing a few pictures of some high points.

At the Opera House Sydney, in aria-belting pose on stage shortly before doing my Q&A with Annabel Crabb - such an unbelievable honour: I still can’t quite believe it!

Beautiful Hawkes Bay in New Zealand (where my tour ended), where the wine was as gorgeous as the scenery!
