Today is the launch of a brand new feature on nigella.com that I’m very excited to tell you all about. As part of my partnership with Ocado, we’ve launched a shoppable recipes feature, powered by Whisk, to make shopping for my recipes with Ocado even easier. You’ll need to have an Ocado account — and you can check on www.ocado.com/postcode to see if Ocado deliver in your area — then you simply click on the purple “add to basket” button under the ingredients list on the recipe you want to shop for. Whisk will pop up with a list of ingredients for the recipe in question. Please bear in mind that these are Whisk’s suggestions — you are the best judge of what you like to order, so do use the “swap” feature to select your preferred brands, just as you would when shopping normally. And, of course, only you know what you already have in your kitchen, so you are free to change the quantities accordingly. You might see a couple of items greyed out — these are ingredients that people often already have at home, but if you don’t, then just change the quantity from 0 to 1, and it will be added to your list. (The way the algorithm works anyway means that the list offered to you will be slanted towards your favourites and regular purchases, should you be an Ocado customer already). Review your suggested ingredients, and then simply press “add to Ocado basket” to get those items added to your account. And there you have it!
The Whisk feature is currently available on over 520 of my recipes on the site — there are a few seasonal recipes for which the ingredients are not available, and for those we’ve turned the Whisk feature off, but we’ll be updating those as and when their times come.
