Sofa Staycation

Posted by Nigella on the 24th July 2011

This time of year would normally find me planning my Cornwall holiday, but this summer I'm staying in London - and loving it, driving rain notwithstanding. I am, however, trying to take some time off work, in other words enjoying a staycation that not only doesn't require foreign travel: it doesn't even involve straying far from my sofa.

And for a person who doesn't normally show a great talent for staying still, I am becoming alarmingly suited to chaise longue life. I'll give you a taster: I am now almost prone, an ipad balanced on my tummy, with some delicious reading in the form of newly published cookery books piled around me. To date, my favourites have been Jacob Kennedy's Bocca Cooking and Barrafina, the Spanish cookbook by Sam and Eddie Hart with Nieves Barragan Mohacho; both volumes are a-flutter with post-it notes on recipes that tempt, and I plan to stop wittering and start cooking soon, and with any luck come back to you with some choice recipes from both books.
