When I was at primary school, the first piece of homework we were always given on going back to school was 'What I Did On My Holidays'. Since in those days, the answer was 'absolutely nothing', it was always a puzzling and onerous task for the pupil and no doubt an excruciatingly boring read for the teacher.
A lot of "I got up then I had breakfast, then I did nothing, then I had lunch etc etc ad nauseam". Actually, as I come back from my holidays, I realise that little has changed (well, I did go to Thailand rather than spending Christmas lying on my bed reading at home as I did as a child) although the 'doing nothing' was the very opposite of tedium, but rather infused with restorative calm.
So what I give you, in dreamy, pleasurable memory, is the story of What I Ate On My Holidays. Actually, a sample of; many photo opportunies were lost to greed! Pictures and captions below but, just before, let me wish everyone a Happy New Year - and may 2015 be kind to all of us...
