Just made this was lovely and spicy. Added some shirataki noodles instead of the prawns to give it a little substance... great flavours and would make again in a heartbeat.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for an easy alternative to Tom Yam paste? I have Thai Green curry paste, when I've googled how to make my own all it seems to be is the core ingredients of this soup blended together.

So true in our kind of very cold weather here in Denmark. A perfect soup. Thank you .

lime zest works instead of kaffir lime leaves & if you don't have/can't find the tom yam paste either I use thai red curry paste instead & it's just as tasty

Just made this, managed to find all ingredients in Sainsburys, which surprised me. Now, I knew it would make my runny nose runnier but cripes! I am now coughing up a lung as I'm obviously a novice when it comes to strength of heat in this. But I will finish my small bowl & will attempt to freeze some of it for another day I need it. My kitchen smells Devine mind you, quite happy :)

This is one benefit of many of Facebook. Cooking for me is one of my fav hobbies and I have been a fan of yours for quite a few years. But this recipe is one of my fav soups. Usually buy a premade hot and sour and added it to chicken or veggies soups I make. Now I have the ingredients , your recipes are always easy and handy at a given notice. and are always excellent...thanks. Nigella Bites was always my all time fav shows. Also, I found the spices required in a local Asian market...

I have made this and it is truly delicious. Kaffir leaves look like flat pieces of grass and come in a glass jar :) The ones I used did anyway, you can get ones that looks like leaves, and then cut them into slices yourself.

Nigella, this soup sounds lovely. Where would I find keffir? Is it dried or fresh? I have never used it.
