Apple Brownies

Introduction

Apple "brownies". As in make a spongecake mixture (a double batch if your baking tray is big), season it with cinnamon (and maybe some finely ground cardamom), and pour into a paper lined baking tray (the deep one that comes with the oven is what I'm having in mind). Then strew pieces of peeled apple over, powder over some sugar and cinnamon, and bake in the oven. These you can cut up in small or big rectangles (and maybe serve with some custard, the instant kind will do fine) This is a tray sized recipe:

  • 100 grams butter
  • 150 millilitres milk
  • 450 millilitres flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 apples
  • cinnamon
  • sugar
  • cardamom (ground)

  • 12 fluid ounces cane sugar
  • 3½ ounces butter
  • 5 fluid ounces milk
  • 16 fluid ounces flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 apples

Method

  • Whisk the eggs and sugar until white and fluffy.
  • Heat the milk and butter, pour in.
  • Mix flour and baking powder, and add.
  • Pour into a paper lined baking tray (oven sized).
  • Place the apple pieces on top (and the cinnamon etc).
  • Bake in 200°C oven for 25-30 minutes, until nicely golden.
