Fry beef until brown, place in ovenproof dish Fry sliced onions in same pan , spread over the beef Add rest of ingredients and a little water, another wineglass should do it Cover with foil Cook at 170c for 3-4 hours! Some people add a little tomato puree and use red wine instead of the vinegar

- 1½ pounds stewing beef
- 3 pounds sliced onions
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 salt
- 1 pepper
- 1 cup vinegar
- vegetable oil (for frying)
