Apple and Cinnamon Sponge

For the cake: Cream the sugar and butter together with a wooden spoon. Add one egg then mix Sift half flour then mix Add the other egg then the rest of the flour. Add in the milk. Pour mixture into a baking tin. For the Apple layer: Stew the four apples and 2 tablespoons of brown sugar by putting them into about 2 mugs of boiling water on a high heat. When they are soft, layer the apples on top of the cake mixture and sprinkle about a teaspoon of brown sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon on top of the apples. Place in a pre-heated oven and cook 180 degrees C/gas mark 4 for 30-40 mins.
