Aletri (Portugese Sweet Vermicelli, Aka: Port Kugel)

Pour milk into a large pan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly(put lemon peel in) Add 1/2 cup of sugar and salt to the milk. Beat the eggs then add the rest of the sugar and all the vanilla to the egg mixture, in a separate bowl. Slowly blend some heated milk into the eggs to make them thin enough to pour easily. Break the noodles up and add them to the boiling milk. Stir constantly until the noodles are cooked. Remove from heat. Slowly add egg mixture into the cooked noodle mixture. Pour onto platters to cool (fish out the lemon peel, of course!) Sprinkle with cinnamon(if desired) Enjoy!! (great side dish with meat or on it's own)
