Ingredients

Serves: 3-4

Metric Cups
  • 100 grams paneer (available at any Indian store, recipe will follow as well)
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • salt (to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ⅓ teaspoon fresh ginger (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon green chilli (chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 bunches spinach (fresh and cleaned)
  • ⅓ teaspoon garlic
  • 3½ ounces paneer (available at any Indian store, recipe will follow as well)
  • 1 onion

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 bunches spinach (fresh and cleaned)
  • ⅓ teaspoon garlic

Method

Palak Paneer (Cottage Cheese in Spinach Gravy) is a community recipe submitted by Divs and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Mix the ginger-garlic, green chili and some water with spinach. Steam or blanch the above for about 7-8 minutes
  • Blend the mixture in a blender to make an even thick spinach paste.
  • Cut the paneer into small cubes.
  • In a cooking pan heat the butter and fry the bay leaves and cumin seeds. Add the chopped onion. Add salt, black pepper powder. Add the paneer cubes and cooked spinach.
  • Garnish with fresh cream.
  • Serve hot with rice, naan or even fresh thick bread.
