Combine apricots, dates, raisins and cherries in a medium bowl. Pour the water into the bowl, mix well; stand 10 minutes. Stir in milk powder, coconut and vanilla. Roll rounded teaspoons of mixture into balls; dip into extra coconut. Refrigerate until firm.

- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 45 grams desiccated coconut (extra)
- 1¾ ounces dried apricots (finely chopped)
- 1⅖ ounces dates (seeded, finely chopped)
- 3 ounces raisins (finely chopped)
- 2 teaspoons candied cherries (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- 1¾ ounces skimmed milk powder
- 1⅗ ounces unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1⅗ ounces unsweetened shredded coconut (extra)
