Use enough pastry to line a swiss roll sized tin, spread with preserves. Melt marge and syrup in microwave, add oats and essence. Mix well, spread over preserves base. Approx 20-30 mins baking gas 5/190c/375f till cooked and golden (slightly cooler temp if using fan oven.)

Good lunch box filler.

- preserves
- 8 ounces margarine (or butter)
- 8 ounces golden syrup or light corn syrup
- 12 ounces quick-cooking oats
- 3 drops almond essence
